Marija Kons (born July 17, 1991) is a rock vocalist and guitarist based in Sheffield, UK. She has an extensive background in the world of music. Along with being a guitar teacher, songwriting coach, and event organiser, Marija has over a decade of experience in performing live and recording as a vocalist and guitarist whilst exploring various genres such as rock, blues, jazz fusion and punk.

Her musical journey began at a young age with learning piano when she was just three years old. At nine, she enrolled in the Juozas Karosas Music School in Klaipėda, Lithuania, where she carried on studying the piano. However, she changed her primary instrument at the age of 13 and began learning acoustic guitar but still carried on playing piano. By the time she was 15, Marija earned a spot at the prestigious Juozas Tallat-Kelpša Conservatoire in Vilnius, Lithuania, where she focused on the electric guitar, piano and vocals. Later she attended the Music Conservatoire in Klaipeda, Lithuania, at the age of 17, where she honed her skills on the electric jazz guitar.

In 2013, she moved to the UK and enrolled in Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, where she studied music and earned her BA (Hons) in 2016. During the time at university, her main instrument was the electric guitar, taught by Justin Dwyer who inspired Marija to push herself further in her guitar journey. Marija’s playing style has been influenced by a wide range of music and artists, particularly those who experiment with different sounds and techniques.

Apart from being a solo vocalist and guitarist, she is one half of the rock duo Star Dame, an up and coming band, who are recording and performing original alternative rock material.

Currently, Marija is recording at Jump Recording Studio in Sheffield, UK, with music producer Dominic Farrand. Her music equipment includes: Hughes & Kettner Switchblade 50 amp, an Ibanez Iron Label RGIT20FE electric guitar along with Taylor 514CE electro-acoustic guitar.

As she continues to develop her own voice and style, Marija Kons strives to push boundaries and explore new ways to express herself through music.
